Things To Do In Gilbert

Gilbert, AZ is a bustling, growing and beautiful town of about 300,000 residents, just southeast of Phoenix. Gilbert has a rich history as a large farming community, once known as the “Hay Shipping Capital of the World”. Gilbert’s first store opened in 1910, with its post office opening its doors in 1912.

There has been a lot of change in Gilbert, but it remains beautiful and family-friendly. We are proud to be a part of this community and enjoy what it has to offer. Below are just a few of the interesting and fun things to do in Gilbert.

Riparian Preserve At Water Ranch

Riparian is a bird-watcher’s paradise! With close to 200 species of birds it is a great way to spend an amazing and peaceful day outdoors with the family. Our favorite activity is the free Friends of Audubon Arizona Family Bird Walks, between 8am and 1pm on the third Saturday of every month from October through March. There are picnic tables, a children’s play area, walking trails, and bathroom facilities—which make the Riparian a great place for a family picnic any day of the week.

Hale Centre Theatre

The Hale Centre Theatre is Arizona’s Premier Family Theatre in Gilbert. With two amazing stages, over 560,000 patrons have enjoyed plays and musicals at Hale Centre Theatre and audiences are growing. With state-of-the-art audio and visual technologies, innovative stage, lighting, lift, and water effects and incredible experiential effects, and quality programming, the Hale Center has something for everyone!

With over 60 vendors during the summer season, the Market offers locally grown produce and food trucks, games and entertainment for the whole family. Open Saturdays from 8AM to 12PM during fall/winter and Saturdays from 7AM to 11AM during the summer season.

Freestone District Park is an 88-acre park with two beautiful lake areas. The lakes use reclaimed water and are stocked for fishing. The park also has multiple sporting areas for adults and children, the Freestone Recreation Center, a skate park, and an amphitheater.
